2012 Tee-2-Green Collegate Turf Team Challenge

Congratulations to the Ohio State Turf Club as the first-ever Tee-2-Green
Collegiate Turf Team Challenge winner at this year's GCSAA conference in Las Vegas.

Teams from all turf schools were invited to stop by the Tee-2-Green booth to participate in our ever-popular Seeds of Fortune game. This year we decided to hold a team event for turf schools/clubs where they could compete as a group to post the highest score by answering turf and golf-related questions. We were very excited to host the event, because we have always enjoyed meeting the students each year as they stopped by our booth.

What we did not expect is how much fun it would be to see the students compete at such a high level. After two days of competing, we ended up with a five-way tie for first place with 4500 points. It was decided that we would have a playoff with all five teams to see who could answer the most questions in the final round. If the team missed even one question, they were eliminated from the finals. In what turned out to be an almost-scripted-for-TV moment, we ended up with a three-way tie at the end. Two teams posted a score of 300 points, and it came down to the very last question where Ohio State pulled out the victory.

Ohio State will be the first team to have its name etched on the turf team trophy for all to see in the upcoming year, and the team members' names will grace our web site to go down in history. I will personally be visiting the top five finishing teams this year to thank them for playing, and I will be presenting Ohio State with a special plaque for their turf club and hosting a special event with their club this spring. Way to go, Buckeyes!

We want to thank all the teams who came by the booth this year and participated, and we want to invite all turf clubs to come and compete next year and to put your name on the trophy for the pride of your school. We truly enjoy meeting our next turf managers, and we feel this is a way to give back to them.

Champion OSU Turf Team
