Pure Distinction

Orchard Lake Country Club
Pure Distinction

This is the perfect name when you look at all of the distinctive attributes it brings to our very strong portfolio. I have been watching bentgrass in trials across the US

The super smooth surface

for years, so I am very hard to impress when I see bentgrass up close every day. Pure Distinction, just like our other new bentgrass Crystal BlueLinks, keeps surprising me, I feel these new bents will be leading us into the future with great success.

Pure Distinction will be a game changer and will be in high demand for courses around the world when it hits full release in the fall of 2013. From its great density for fighting Poa annua, upright growth for pure perfect putting surface, great disease resistance, great recovery from divots, and its bright green color that looks fantastic in contrast to rough, this bent can be used on greens, tees, and fairways; however, I think putting greens are where this bent will shine the best.

Tee-2-Green announces the launch of its latest advanced creeping bentgrass variety,. Pure Distinction. Pure-Seed Testing bred Pure Distinction for superior resistance to diseases, high tolerance to temperature extremes and wear, and for the ability to thrive with fewer inputs and less maintenance. Pure Distinction is well adapted for low mowing to achieve superior Stimpmeter readings, when those results are desired, and this variety produces less thatch than any other bent in our trials to date.”

The genetic lineage behind Pure Distinction includes the legendary Penncross and the groundbreaking Penn A’s and G’s. Tee-2-Green, describes the qualities of the new variety, Pure Distinction was selected for its bright green color, disease resistance and ultra-smooth putting surface. It is high in density, upright, aggressive in growth and it produces less thatch than other bentgrasses on the market.”

“The distinctive green color is slightly different than the As and Gs, which contrasts nicely with the darker green varieties,” says Crystal Rose-Fricker, president of Pure-Seed Testing, “Plus, it did really well on the NTEP test due to its aggressiveness and resistance to disease. We’re excited because this is a global variety which has so much potential both in the United States and abroad.”

Pure Distinction provides excellent resistance to Bacterial wilt, Brown patch, Fusarium patch, Anthracnose and leaf spot, as well as great resistance to dollar spot. The high-density, aggressive growth of Pure Distinction makes the turf able to successfully compete against Poa annua and recover quickly from ball marks, divots and traffic.

We also noted the new variety’s preference for dry environments. Pure Distinction likes drier conditions, so it requires less water and fewer inputs than other varieties. It will really save superintendents time and money.”
