New Resources Pages on Tee-2-Green Site

Introducing new informative articles now posted to our " Resources" page from superintendents and turf professionals like you. I hope to grow this collection over the years to give supers a glimpse into what other professionals are doing at their courses. In order for this Resource page to grow, I need your input to make it successful. If you have done a greens, tees, or fairways renovation with T2G Bents, send me your story. If you have a special way to do divots, overseeding, watering technique, or something unique or different that you do at your course that would help your fellow superintendent, email me. This is your time to shine...

Spot Light Ireland

Over the next couple of weeks a spotlight falls on Ireland on the Golf Channel to cover the 2011 Solheim Cup and the Golf Channel's own original reality golf show, "The Big Break," it will also spotlight
Tee-2-Green bents.

Tee-2-Green bents are featured on PGA, LPGA, and other world tour events on a regular basis due to their excellent performance, perfect putting surface, and consistency they deliver day in and day out. In having Tee-2-Green bents spotlighted in such a big fashion over the next few weeks on a world stage, I wanted to give them their props. The host course for The Big Break is the historic The K Club, which features A4 on the greens, and Killeen Castle has a blend of A4/G6 on its greens. Both courses are breathtaking and are everything you think an Irish course would be. Don’t miss the shamrock in the middle of the bunker
on hole #1 at Killeen Castle; the castle itself is the backdrop. The K Club makes a fantastic showcase for The Big Break and is steeped in history and tradition, making it a perfect place to kick off some lucky contestant's future career.

Here is a little more info about The Big Break and Solheim Cup:

The Big Break:
Coming off the heels of one of the most-watched Big Break seasons in Big Break Indian Wells, the Golf Channel's popular reality series will return for its 16th season this fall at historic K Club in Ireland, home of the 2006 Ryder Cup. Filmed on location in June at The K Club in Kildare, Ireland, Big Break Ireland will unfold on the resort's two championship golf courses - the Palmer Smurfit Course and the Palmer Ryder Cup Course. Scheduled to premiere Sept. 20, The Big Break will feature a cast of six men and six women competing against each other in an attempt to make real their lifelong dreams of playing alongside the world's top golfers. The ultimate male or female winner will be awarded two tournament exemptions from the four exemptions up for grabs, which represent events on the LPGA Tour, European Tour and Ladies European Tour.

The Solheim Cup:
A biennial, trans-Atlantic team match-play competition featuring the best U.S.-born players from the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) Tour and the best European members from the Ladies European Tour (LET). The U.S. Team leads the competition, 8-3, and has never lost The Solheim Cup on home soil. In 2009, the Americans kept their untarnished home record intact at Rich Harvest Farms with a 16 to 12 final score against the Europeans.

Three-day, match-play competition. The first two days of competition feature two sessions each day, with a total of eight foursomes and eight four-ball matches over the two days. The final day consists of 12 singles matches.

The foursomes format features two-member teams, with players hitting alternate shots using the same ball. At the end of the hole, one score is recorded for the team. In contrast, a four-ball match has each player playing her own ball throughout the entire match. At the end of each hole, the best score of the two teammates is recorded; only one score from each team is recorded for each hole.

For the singles competition, one U.S. and one European player compete against one another. Each plays her own ball throughout the round and records her own score.
